We have a variety of rooms available for hire, so whether you need to hold a group meeting for 70 people or a children’s birthday party, just the once or every week all year, we can help.
Our attractive and recently refurbished centre offers a high standard of rooms – they are safe, clean and warm (or cool in summer) and we have a large kitchen as well as parking.
The Centre is staffed, so there’s nearly always someone to help if you have a problem.
We offer use of our modern kitchen facilities – including oven, microwave and fridge with a serving hatch through to the hall – and we can also help you arrange caterers if required. We have an automatic plumbed-in urn which can dispense hot water for up to 400 hot drinks per hour – enough to keep even the biggest of groups happy!
There is full access to properly equipped disabled toilets.
We have plenty of comfortable seats and free wi-fi on request, plus we have various pieces of equipment available – a screen for PowerPoint presentations (or slide shows), irons for craft groups, art books and so on.
We have a Hall and several other rooms of varying sizes for hire by the hour or day. Please contact us if you would like to know more, or to arrange to come and see the spaces available.
If you require a specific furniture layout for your event, you can print off and fill in one of these room plans and we will do our best to replicate it for you:
(Hall plans currently being updated)
Our hall has a hatch through to the kitchen, perfect for serving food and drinks to your guests.
The recent installation of a new set of sliding doors has allowed us to create this new hall, combining Rooms 1 and 2!
Room 1 is a fully accessible ground floor room next to the hall, at the front of the building.
The annexe is a quiet room away from the main building ideal for confidential meetings, but still has easy access to the kitchen and other faciliities.
Room 3 has two comfortable sofas making it ideal for counselling, training, or an informal meeting.
All of our first floor rooms have access to the first floor kitchen and toilet facilities.
Rooms 4 and 5 offer quieter space, and are ideal for small meetings or craft groups.
Room 6 is a small, cosy and private room, intended for counselling sessions.
Room 7 can be used as an office or as a counselling room.
Standard Hires: Includes free 30 mins setup time and 15 mins after. Extra time in excess will be charged at an additional 50% of the hiring rate.
*Special Functions: Dance and party bookings will be charged at an additional 10% of the standard rate. Affiliates will be charged the standard rate (unadjusted) for special functions.

Cash and COVID
We understand from government advice that cash handling is a method of spreading Covid-19.
We are aiming to reduce our cash handling to an absolute minimum, and so please note that we will not be accepting cash as payment.
We ask that all students and room hirers etc. use a bank card to pay through our card machine. Please discuss this issue with us if you have a problem.

Getting married this year but cannot find a date with the Registrar?
Heres an idea!
We have heard a few sad stories about not being able to book a marriage ceremony recently.
A local Celebrant reminded us that your family celebration and party do not have to be on the same day that your marriage is registered legally.
So you may not even be able to book your civil registration until October 31st, but you could have your Family Celebration and Announcement of Marriage whenever or where-ever you like!
Then if the only booking in the Registry Office is 9.00am on a Tuesday morning in February, you can still have a summer wedding – or even a Christmas Wedding, if that’s your desire.
So – heres’ a suggestion.
Supported by a Licensed Celebrant, have your Ceremony at a time to suit you at Braintree Community Centre – whether to serve lunch, a cream tea or a full dinner maybe with a small dance later?
- We have upgraded our Hall (with kitchen) and have comfortable chairs. We have lots of extra rooms available if necessary. Plain or chintzy mismatch china available.
- We have done a do-over on our garden – which is now a lovely flat turfed area with green hedges around, just right for photos. ( We know where you could get a wind and weather proof arcade for the Bride and Groom if you want to do the ceremony outside. )
- We have the latest tech. which can bring friends and family from around the world to be in the Hall with you to watch the ceremonials. Physically fully accessible as well.
- You can decorate the Hall – we even have local florists and balloon decorators we can recommend, along with advice about food.
- And as a Special Offer we can offer the use of the newly named Bishop Hall for just £450* for an entire day!
- * Book before December 31st 2021 to qualify to save £100! (Note : June – September most days of the week available ; Sept – Dec mostly week end bookings.)
