Slash & Burn

08 July 2023 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Fusing Sheers to Create New Textures and Surfaces.

Learn how to use your craft soldering iron to fuse and burn layers of sheer fabrics to create new fabric surfaces and textures suitable to use in a variety of other craft techniques.

WHAT WE WILL MAKE:

A series of flat surface fabrics that can be cut to use as needed.  A craft pack will be supplied at a cost of £4.00 which will include a variety of sheers, card blank, brooch finding and beads for further embellishment.  You will have enough fabric to layer and burn to create an insert for a greeting card and/or pieces for a brooch (findings provided).  You are also encouraged to bring your own sheer scraps and embellishments (see below) but the kit will provide ample to get started to have a finished supply of textured pieces to make up into other projects as you wish.  The Tutor will also provide embroidery threads for participants to use and anything else that may be interesting.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

  • Your own soldering craft soldering iron. If you need to purchase a soldering iron we have Margaret Beal soldering irons available for £24.00 each.
  • Any other sheer scraps and embellishments
  • Scissors and general sewing kit
  • An old tile and mug. The tile is for placing the material on (essential!). The mug is for having a place to rest the hot soldering iron while working.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities but adults only due to the nature of the equipment used.

Workshop fee £25.00 (EHA Members £20.00)
