7pm to 9pm

Starting Wednesday, 28th February 2024

Explore patchwork techniques in combination with getting to know you sewing machine in this fun and relaxed 8-week course. Starting at the beginning, learn what your machine can do as well as create useful patchwork projects. Suitable for absolute beginners but do familiarize with your machine by looking at the manual provided (or online manual), where to put plugs and leads and switching on power.

At the end of the 8 weeks there will be an option to continue with a weekly or monthly class. The current, more advanced class is full, so this option will be additional to the current class on offer.

Materials to bring to the session:

  • Sewing machine with all attachments, accessories and extension lead if you have one.
  • Manual for you machine-have a look over before the session to familiarize yourself where information sections are located.
  • Neutral coloured, all-purpose sewing thread – don’t buy anything special, just bring what you have.
  • A selection of medium weight cotton or poly/cotton fabrics (print or plain) from which four (4) 8 ½ -9 inch squares can be cut. Don’t cut anything yet! Just bring along the fabric. Again, Don’t buy anything special, just bring along what you have.
  • Your usual sewing kit to include pins and fabric scissors. We will also discuss what is essential in your kit vs. the non-essential but “nice to have” as well as the “don’t waste your money” stuff.
  • Ruler or straight edge (12in approx.) if you have one. Not essential for the first session but bring along if you have one.
  • Pen/pencil for marking.

The cost for this eight week course is £70

The dates are 28 February, 6, 20 and 27 March, 10, 17 and 24 April and 1 May (Omitting the 3rd & 13th April)
